We love, we share, we grow in our faith in our Saviour Jesus, through the Holy Word of our Father God
A Confessing Congregation within the Uniting Church in Australia
Ingham District Uniting Churches
Don’t forget to pray for
Christine Bryant.
On 8 August 2010 Christine gave us a graphic picture of the challenges of her work
in the school in Senegal. The number of students has doubled during her five years
there. Students come from a range of different language and passport countries. It
is important that they are fully prepared for the next stage of their education.
This includes maintaining contacts with their culture. One major challenge has come
with large changes in staff at the school.
As a congregation we are committed to continue to pray for and support Christine.
We had planned to have our Church Camp at Morris’s block, but there was too much
cyclone damage. It’s not usable yet – hopefully next year!
So the Camp was once again at the Crystal Creek Caravan Park – from 27 to 29 May. This is a good location with plenty of open space for tents and caravans – and cabins for those who need them. Weather was gool!
The Camp was a good time for family relaxing and sharing. The service on Sunday challenged us to reflect on the grace of God in the midst of recent events.
A video of some of the activities is available in the Gallery.
The Ingham Ladies’ Guild Annual Morning Tea was held on Thursday 2 June at Conroy
Hall which was packed for the occasion. The Guest Speaker was Joan Birkett who talked
on the subject “Eyesight”. Her presentation was both informative and inspiring.
Church Building Repairs: There have been more building inspections this week as part of the Insurance assessment. We hope to hear more in the near future. In the meantime, we trust we are able to make the best use of the hall. If there are issues or ideas to improve the use of our current space, please speak with Shane or one of the leaders.
Forrest Beach service was held on 10 April. A couple of weeks before we had an Art & Drama night – with special thanks to David and Leigh Rowe and their skills.
The results of that night were presented at the beach service. Artists spoke of the aspects of faith they had expressed in their artwork. Performers – young and old! – did a drama on Temptation which had been prepared by Leigh.
Some idea of the various presentations can be seen in the Gallery.
Special thanks to David and Leigh, to all participants – and to those who prepared the food for the meal that followed!
